Nitrile Butadiene Rubber
Nitrile Rubber, also known as nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), is an oil-resistant synthetic rubber made from an acrylonitrile (CH2=CHCN) and butadiene (CH2=CH-CH=CH2) copolymer. Nitrile Rubber foam is a closed cell insulation material that is highly resistant to moisture vapor, making it a popular choice for condensation control. Nitrile rubber is most commonly found in automotive seals, gaskets, and other items that come into contact with hot oils. Other obvious applications include rolls for spreading ink in printing and hoses for oil products. NBR is also used in textiles, where it improves the finish and waterproofing properties of woven and nonwoven fabrics. Moisture from condensation is a problem in any cold system. The temperature of the contents of the object to be insulated is kept within the process limits by Nitrile Rubber.

Heat tracing before insulation involves the installation of electric heat tracing cables or heating elements directly onto pipes, vessels, or equipment before applying insulation. This method is commonly used in industrial applications to maintain the desired temperature of the contents within the piping or equipment, especially in cold environments
Here's an explanation of the process:
-Heat tracing cables or heating elements: These are electric heating cables or heating tapes designed to provide heat when energized. They are often self-regulating, which means they adjust their heat output based on the ambient temperature, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
-Installation on pipes or equipment: The heat tracing cables or heating elements are installed directly on the surface of the pipes, vessels, or equipment that require temperature maintenance. They are typically secured using metal bands, clips, or other fastening methods.
-Insulation application: After the heat tracing cables or heating elements are installed, insulation is applied over them.
The insulation serves two main purposes:
-Thermal insulation: It helps retain the heat generated by the heat tracing cables, preventing heat loss to the surrounding environment.
-Protection: The insulation provides physical protection for the heat tracing cables, shielding them from moisture, mechanical damage, and other environmental factors.
Components used in Electrical Heat Tracing System
-Thermostat: Controls the temperature of the heated surface, activates and deactivates heating elements to maintain desired temperature. Can be ambient-sensing or line-sensing.
-Junction Box: Provides a connection point for power supply and heating cables, protects electrical connections from environmental factors.
-Electrical Heat Tracing Wire: The core component that generates heat, typically made of a resistive element encased in insulation and protective sheathing. Can be self-regulating, constant wattage, or mineral insulated.
-Fiberglass Tape: Used to secure heating cables to pipes or vessels, provides thermal insulation, and is resistant to high temperatures.
-Aluminium Tape: Used to cover heating cables for better heat distribution, improves overall thermal efficiency, and provides mechanical protection for heating cables.
-Thermostats feature adjustable settings and overheating protection.
-Junctin boxes are weather-resistent with various NEMA ratings.
-Fiberglass tape is durable and chemical-resistent.
-Heating wires offer different wattage output.
-Aluminium tape has good thermal conductivity and moisture resistence.
The combination of heat tracing and insulation is particularly useful in various industries, like:
- Oil and gas: Maintaining the temperature of pipelines, storage tanks, and process equipment to prevent freezing or maintain optimal viscosity for fluid flow.
- Chemical and pharmaceutical: Ensuring temperature control for sensitive processes, reactors, or storage vessels.

Fiberglass Cloth is a material made up of many tiny glass fibers. Glass fiber is created by extruding thin glass strands with a silica base or another formulation into numerous small-diameter threads that are appropriate for textile production. Their large surface area to weight ratio makes these valuable. They are far more vulnerable to chemical attack, though, because of their larger surface area. Fiberglass Cloth is the reinforced plastic in fiberglass, a type of fiber-reinforced plastic. The fact that fiberglass is also referred to as glass fiber reinforced plastic or glass reinforced plastic may have its roots in fiberglass cloth. Features of Fiberglass Cloth
- Fiberglass Cloth has superior qualities, including stability in dimensions, electrical properties, mechanical strength, and incombustibility, has dielectric permeability, and compatibility with organic matrices. It also doesn't decay.
- Fiberglass cloth materials exhibit a comparatively strong thermal conductivity and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Glass fabrics will release heat faster than textiles made of organic fibers or asbestos. The strength-to-weight ratio of fiberglass yarn is high. Steel wire is half as strong as fiberglass yarn.
